Reichert also took time to meet and thank volunteers who were working and talk with drop-in clients.

Reichert toured POM’s food bank, learned how the organization’s thrift shop income supports its services, how the organization is helping families with utility and rental assistance and bringing counselors in from outside agencies.

“I am thoroughly impressed with their generous hearts and commitment to serve our community,” Reichert shared through his Facebook page.

“It was good for him to see what we do and know how limited access to social services is for local families,” Nelson said. “We were very impressed by the time he spent with us listening to the issues we face.”

“It was positive,” Stensen said of Reichert’s effort to venture out into the district and see what is happening, especially the Congressman’s interest on the topic of creating affordable low-income temporary and long term housing, not just for Plateau area seniors, veterans and those in need, but throughout the area.

Reichert is serving in his sixth term as the Representative from the 8th Congressional District of Washington.
