Reminder — SR 410 closed until noon Thursday

And the highway will be down to one lane next week

SR 410 remains closed at milepost 55, past Greenwater and the Crystal Mountain Resort, this week for one more day.

WSDOT sent out a reminder to those looking to get to through the pass will have to go via I-90 or US 12 around the Cascade Mountain Range because workers “are seeing some people show up at the closure point expecting to get through,” said David Rasbach, WSDOT Construction Communicator. “This is despite signs and message boards along SR 410 announcing the closure ahead.”

Workers are currently installing a permanent culvert on Dry Creek to increase water capacity, reducing the risk of floods.

Dry Creek was “overwhelmed” by a 2022 debris flow after heavy rain.

Those wanting to head to Paradise at Mount Rainier will also have to use SR 123/Cayuse Pass from the south or westbound SR 410 from Yakima as a detour.

The full closure is scheduled to last until noon Thursday, Oct. 5.

However, that doesn’t mean traffic will be free-flowing — SR 410 will be down to one lane at milepost 55 from Oct. 9 – 13, which could affect travel time.
