School board seats across the Plateau are open, starting with current Enumclaw School Board President Cathy Dahlquist’s and board member Chris Van Hoof’s positions.

Both Dahlquist, who represents District 2, and Van Hoof, who represents District 5, are closing out their first term on the board and plan to run again.

The filing period for both King and Pierce counties begins June 1 and closes June 5. Elections are planned for November, but for races with more than two candidates, a primary will take place in August.

The Carbonado Historical School District Board of Directors has one opening, Laurie McNabb, who has not announced whether she will run again for her Position 1 seat.

White River School Board President Denise Vogel’s seat is open as are members John McArtor and Joe Dieringer. Vogel, who is finishing her first term and represents District 3, said she plans to run again. McArtor, who represents District 1, said he will not be running again, not because he is dissatisfied with the direction of the district, but as a personal decision because he cannot make a four-year commitment to the position at this time. Dieringer, who has not made his intentions known, represents District 4.
