Search is on for Enumclaw arsonist

287th Ave SE family has been targeted twice in only two weeks

The search is on for an arsonist or arsonists after an Enumclaw family’s house and car were set alight in two separate, recent incidents.

It started Aug. 19, when the family’s car was engulfed in flames. That incident is still under investigation by the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Then, around 4:30 a.m. on September 1, firefighters responded to another call at the single-family home, located in the 46400 block of 287th Avenue SE.

Frightening home security camera footage shared by the sheriff’s office shows a figure rush onto the porch, pour a flammable liquid and set it aflame before fleeing. According to the sheriff’s office, the family was able to escape safely as first responders arrived.

Detectives suspect the arsons are targeted and not random, sheriff’s office spokesperson Tim Meyer said. He declined to share information on motive since the case is still active and under investigation.

The sheriff’s office is looking for tips and information to find whoever is responsible for the arsons. You can call the agency’s non-emergency number at 206-296-3311 and reference case C21027456.
