The public will have several opportunities to hear from candidates during the next couple of weeks.

A number of local positions will be decided during the Nov. 8 general election. Voters will begin making their feelings known when ballots are put in the mail; in King County, mailing will be Oct. 19 and in Pierce County ballots will go out Oct. 21.

Those seeking office – or looking to be re-elected – have been invited to several appearances.

A session for city council candidates in both Enumclaw and Buckley, sponsored by The Courier-Herald, is planned for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in the auditorium of the Glacier Middle School Annex in Buckley.

The debate format will include the two candidates running for Enumclaw City Council Position 2 and the four candidates chasing the Position 6 and Position 7 posts on the Buckley City Council. In Enumclaw, the contested race has challenger Darrel Dickson facing incumbent Rich Elfers. In Buckley, the Position 6 race includes Sandra Sundstrom and Milt Tremblay while the Position 7 race has Bryan Howard and Marvin Sundstrom.

Candidates will answer questions supplied by the audience as well as questions prepared by the newspaper staff.
