Live entertainment, merchant sales on tap for a three-day run

Downtown Enumclaw will come alive the next few days as entertainers take the stage and merchants roll out their wares.
It's time for the Summer Sidewalk Fest, which kicks off Thursday and continues through Saturday, sponsored by the Enumclaw Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event has evolved over the years and had different sponsors. There was a traditional sidewalk sale, which evolved into the short-lived Pickles and Ice Cream festival under the direction of the Enumclaw Downtown Partnership. When the EDP folded, the chamber rescued the event.
With a year to plan, this year's event is much better organized than last year's sale, according to Cathy Rigg, chamber director. For example, there are more vendors this time around and the event is being better advertised, she said.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days, Cole Street will be dedicated to downtown merchants, along with some out-of-towners. The street will be off-limits to traffic from Stevenson to Marshall avenues; side streets will be blocked as well, except for busy Griffin Avenue, which will remain open to motorists.
The entertainment schedule for the three days looks like this:
