A stolen car that crashed near the Sound Transit tracks just north of the Sumner Station impacted the morning commute as police searched for a burglary and vehicle theft suspect.  The Sound Transit trains were halted for approximately 15 minutes at about 5:00 this morning while police searched for the suspect and workers insured the train tracks were not degraded in any way.

This vehicle was the second car stolen by the suspect early this morning.  At about 4:20 this morning, Seattle Police advised KCSO of a stolen van they believed was tied to a burglary that occurred in South Seattle.  Minutes later, King County Sheriff’s Deputies located and pursued the stolen van from the Skyway area to Sumner where the suspect left the van near the 4500 block of E Valley Hwy E.  While Sheriff’s deputies and Sumner Police were mobilizing a K9 search, the suspect broke in to a nearby house and stole an SUV.  Police noticed the fleeing SUV just as it crashed near the transit station with the suspect again fleeing on foot.  K9 deputies were not able to locate the suspect.  The outbound trains were checked for the suspect by Sound Transit Police prior to departing.

There is no good suspect description at this time.  No one was injured in the collisions.
