There’s a lot going on in Seattle this weekend, including a Sounders game. Keep in mind that drivers heading into the city will have fewer options coming in from the eastside. All westbound lanes of SR 520 across Lake Washington between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, March 13, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 16.

Westbound SR 520 closed this weekend

There’s a lot going on in Seattle this weekend, including a Sounders game. Keep in mind that drivers heading into the city will have fewer options coming in from the eastside. All westbound lanes of SR 520 across Lake Washington between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, March 13, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 16.

Because of this scheduled closure, the I-90 express lanes will be westbound from 7 a.m. Saturday into Monday morning’s commute.

During the closure, crews working on the West Approach Bridge North Project will remove barriers along the highway and realign lanes on the westbound off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard in preparation for building a new off-ramp. A single lane of westbound SR 520 will also be shut down between Montlake Boulevard East and I-5 during portions of the closure.

This is a test of the I-405 express toll lane signs

If you’re traveling north into Bellevue on I-405 and see numbers on toll signs, don’t sweat it. Tolls are not being charged just yet. This week we started testing two new electronic toll-rate signs as part of our I-405 express toll lanes project. Drivers may see words or symbols light up on the screens while the signs are tested. These tests will continue through the summer.

The Washington State Transportation Commission is currently conducting its public process to make decisions on minimum and maximum toll rates and carpool exemptions for the express toll lanes. The commission’s proposal includes changing the minimum carpool requirement in the express toll lanes from two to three people during peak hours in order to keep the lanes moving at 45 miles per hour or faster at all times.
