Drivers in Bonney Lake should be prepared for some additional slowdowns next week as work paving South Prairie Road is scheduled to begin Monday.

The work is part of the construction of the new medical office building being constructed in part of the former Washington State University demonstration forest.

According to Bonney Lake Public Works Director Dan Grigsby, the installation of underground utilities, a new turn lane and 204th Avenue East (next to the office building) is complete. All that remains is the final overlays of asphalt.

According to an email from Grigsby, pavement on the new lanes of South Prairie Road is scheduled to be put down Monday, with the final lift (as a layer of asphalt is known) scheduled to be put down Tuesday.

Work is allowed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. At times, traffic will be restricted to one lane, controlled by flaggers.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible.

All scheduling is weather-dependent.
