Drivers relying on State Route 18 between Federal Way and Auburn should plan for major delays on the nights of Monday, Oct. 26, and Tuesday, Oct. 27. Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close SR 18 at State Route 167 as part of the SR 167 8th to 277th Southbound HOT Lane project.

During the closure, crews will add six girders to the recently installed bridge pier that will support the new southbound SR 167 HOT Lane as it travels over SR 18. The finished bridge will be 24-feet wide with the ability to accommodate future lane additions on either side. This work is a key element of WSDOT’s HOT lane project that will extend the SR 167 southbound HOT lane system an additional 8 miles.
