Stagnant weather conditions causes Pierce County burn ban to continue

Due to continued stagnant weather conditions and elevated air pollution levels, the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is maintaining Stage 2 the burn bans in Greater Pierce and Snohomish Counties.

Due to continued stagnant weather conditions and elevated air pollution levels, the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is maintaining Stage 2 the burn bans in Greater Pierce and Snohomish Counties. The Stage 1 burn ban for the town of Darrington also remains in effect.

All bans are in effect until further notice.

The weak weather front we were expecting tomorrow has been delayed in computer models and is getting weaker.Tuesday’s winds however are a sure thing as a much stronger system will return us to our more typical winter weather.

• Pierce County residents west of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge on the “Pierce Peninsula” (Gig Harbor Fire #5 and Key Peninsula #16) and in “South Pierce” county (Roy Fire #17, Eatonville, and Ashford #23) are not included in today’s burn ban. See map below.
