Anyone interested in what the future may hold for the stretch of state Route 410 running through Enumclaw is invited to a public meeting Tuesday night.

The final session of the SR 410 Corridor Study will begin at 6 p.m. in the Enumclaw Public Library.

To be discussed are potential intersection improvements, design and landscaping concepts, channelization and both current and future traffic volume.

The first hearing on the corridor study showed possible major changes to 410, including roundabouts at the Cole Street intersection and another in the east end of town.

Rand Black, a traffic engineer with the city’s Public Works Department, said plans have been adjusted since that late-October meeting. With regard to the intersection of Cole and 410, “there have been a couple of different design options looked at,” he said, adding there are now four options for the busy intersection.

There are five options on the board for the intersection of 410 and Griffin Avenue, a convergence that no longer meets state Department of Transportation standards.

The meeting format will be the same as last time, with a series of drawings detailing possible road options. Benefits and disadvantages to the different options will be presented and city staff will be on hand to answer questions.

The SR 410 study was conducted by the Kirkland, Wash.-based Transpo Group at a cost of $150,000.

Following Tuesday’s meeting, staff will arrive at a final plan for the 410 corridor through Enumclaw and present the plan for City Council adoption. Major changes are not in the foreseeable future, as financing would have to be arranged and the city would have to involve the Department of Transportation.
