The Enumclaw City Council recently approved its annual Transportation Improvement Plan, outlining its transportation improvement goals for the next six years.
The plan, which is required by the state in order for the city to receive grants for these projects, was passed during the June 23 meeting.
The TIP is not set in stone, and is often updated and altered as the year goes on.
Projects residents can look forward to in the next year are some improvements to Marshall Avenue, from Cole Street to Wells Street, a Blake Street overlay from Warner Avenue to Noel Street; improvements to the Porter Street and McHugh Avenue intersection; and improvements to the Stevenson Avenue and Railroad Street intersection.
The following year brings with it the TIP’s highest-cost item, coming in at $2 million — pedestrian improvements on Porter Street/SR 169, between McHugh Avenue and Thunder Mountain Middle School.
These improvements include adding a sidewalk and widening the pavement, plus curb, gutter, and piped storm drainage improvements.
This project is fully-funded with federal dollars.
Also in 2027 could be some improvements to Initial Avenue from Railroad Street to Wells Street and Battersby Avenue from 225 Battersby Avenue to Farman Street.
For 2028, Enumclaw plans to overlay 244th Avenue from 440th Street to Griffin Avenue; overlay Marshall Avenue from Railroad Street to Cole Street; improve the SR 410 and SR 164 intersection; and improve the sidewalks along Division Street, from Kibler Avenue to McHugh Avenue.
The remaining projects for 2029, 2030, and 2031 include improving Pioineer Street, Farrelly Street, Watson Street, and Loraine Street; improve the Eleson Park frontage; and improve ADA ramps on Roosevelt Avenue.
