Sumner High Capacity Program nominations open Thursday

Students identified as highly capable in grades 3-5 are served in a self-contained "all day" program; at the middle school level the program provides students with challenging programs in social studies, language arts, math and science content areas.

Thursday, Jan. 3, begins the nomination period in the Sumner School District for entrance into the district’s Highly Capable program.

Each school year, Sumner School District accepts nominations of students in grades two through five whose educational needs might be best served by the District’s Highly Capable Program.

Students identified as highly capable in grades 3-5 are served in a self-contained “all day” program; at the middle school level the program provides students with challenging programs in social studies, language arts, math and science content areas.

Nomination applications will be available at all elementary and middle schools beginning Thursday. Forms will also be available online during the nomination period, which runs through Jan. 31.

The district is also hosting a Highly Capable Program Parent Information Night at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Lakeridge Middle School, 5909 Myers Rd. E., Bonney Lake.
