The Sumner Police Department is accepting registrations to support its fundraising effort for Special Olympics Washington.

Motorcyclists will mount their bikes in the First Northwest Ride of Dreams Aug. 28. The event is a massive motorcycle convoy that raises money to benefit the athletes of the Special Olympics Washington program. Bikers gather in one of five start points – Seattle, Marysville, Centralia, Kennewick and Spokane – and converge upon Ellensburg. There, they will be greeted by Special Olympians.

Law enforcement agencies throughout the state have organized the bike convoy. Each motorcyclist must raise $30 to ride.

Interested participants can download a registration form from the city of Sumner’s website at www.ci.sumner.wa.us/Documents/Events/2010_NW_Ride_Dreams_brochure.pdf.

Sumner police requested that Sumner residents list the police department as the fundraising agency on the registration form. The form must be sent to the Special Olympics Washington office, 2150 North 107th Street #222, Seattle, WA 98133. Their fax number is 206-361-8158.
