WHAT’S THE RUSH?: On Jan. 5 at approximately 7:27 p.m. an officer running radar in the 4600 block of West Valley Highway noticed a vehicle pass by his radar going 18 mph over the speed limit. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over but it continued and went through a red light. The vehicle eventually stopped on the railroad tracks. The driver got out of the vehicle and took off running. The officer yelled at the subject to stop, but he continued to run. The driver eventually fell and was arrested. The driver was booked into Pierce County Jail for felony eluding, DUI and driving while license suspended third degree, as well as a warrant for DUI.

WHAT A MESS: On Jan. 9 at approximately 10:06 a.m. officers were called to the 15500 block of Main Street for a report of vandalism. Upon arrival an officer started taking photos of a room which was ransacked. The headboard was torn off of the wall and lying on the floor, the phone was ripped out of the wall, the table was turned upside down and there were beer cans and bottles strewn about and trash on the floor. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were left in the room. The manager of the location provided officers with the invoice which included the identity of the renter. A citation was later mailed to the renter of the room. Later in the day the renter of the room called to talk with the officers. He advised that he was with four other people in the room after a long night of drinking and that he left early, leaving the others behind in the room. The renter was advised that he is responsible for the damage as he is the signer on the rental agreement.
