SUMNER POLICE BLOTTER: Who’s following who?

On Oct. 21 at approximately 10:47 p.m. an officer responded to a call of a vehicle prowl in the 15900 block of 52nd St. E. Officers responded and did an area check for the suspect but they were unable to locate him. The officer went to talk to the victims and was informed they saw someone inside of their vehicle while it was parked in their carport and the victims went out to confront the man. One of the victims went to the passenger-side door but the suspect fled out the driver’s-side door, assaulting the other victim in order to make his escape. The officer observed the driver’s door lock was punched through the keyhole and the outer piece of the ignition was popped off, similar to other attempted vehicle thefts in the area. The investigation is ongoing.

SUSPECTED MARIJUANA ACTIVITY

On Oct. 13 at 3:30 p.m. an officer was monitoring the Sumner skate park via video from the laptop in his vehicle. The officer observed a subject at the skate park go to a known area for drug activity. The subject was observed by the officer preparing and packaging the drugs for sale. The officer contacted the subject and informed him of what he had observed. A search of the suspect’s backpack produced a small scale with suspected marijuana on the inside. The suspect also had in his possession $163 in cash. The suspect was placed under arrest and booked. He was served with a notice of seizure and intended forfeiture for the cash found in his possession.

WHO’S FOLLOWING WHO?

On Oct. 12 at approximately 4 p.m. an officer responded to the 800 block of Maple Street for a report of a protection order violation. Upon the officer’s arrival he met with the reporting party who advised he was approached by the respondent whom the oder is against. The reporting party advised he changed train cars in order to get away from the respondent but she followed him. He advised he tried to take a photo of her to prove she violate the order. When they got to Sumner they exited the train and she allegedly followed him around the parking lot of the station and he called the police. The other party was contacted and she advised the reporting party was the one following her. It was suggested to both parties they should use different stations to avoid this type of issue in the future.
