Students in Dieringer started school Tuesday, but Wednesday marks the first day of classes for students in the Sumner School District.

Students in Dieringer started school Tuesday, but Wednesday marks the first day of classes for students in the Sumner School District.

This year, start times for the first day vary by grade level.

Because the first day of school in the Sumner District is a Wednesday, the district will be operating on its late-start schedule for elementary schools. There will be no kindergarten classes on the first day. Breakfast and lunch will be served in all elementary school grades.

Blue kindergarten classes begin Sept. 9 and red kindergarten classes  begin Sept. 12.

Sixth-graders and ninth-graders will be picked up according to the regular bus schedule with school starting at 7:25 a.m.

Seventh-, eighth-, and 10th- through 12th-graders will begin school at 12:25 p.m. and bus transportation will be five hours later than the regular weekday schedules (not the Wednesday late start schedule).

For example, if the bus is scheduled to come at 7:10 a.m., it will arrive at 12:20 p.m.

School lunch will not be served in grades seven-eight and 10-12.

For specific questions or more information about the start times please contact your child’s school.
