Suspect detained, sent to hospital | Buckley police reports June 16-22

SUSPECT INJURED: A 20-year-old man opened a container of alcohol at 6:38 a.m. June 22 in a store on SR 410. When encountered, he attempted to flee but was successfully detained. During the incident, the suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The store owner declined to press charges after the suspect made restitution and apologized for the incident.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: Police were dispatched the morning of June 22 to a Elsa Street address and a report of domestic violence. Contact was made with a man from Bonney Lake and a woman from Tukwila. After interviewing both, police arrested the man for fourth-degree assault and transported him to the Fife jail.

FLEES IN CUFFS: Officers responded shortly before midnight June 20 to a location on SR 410 where they contacted a man and woman regarding a shoplifting incident. Both suspects were 22 and from Bonney Lake. The man was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant placed in handcuffs. He then fled the scene and, despite a search by officers and a K-9 unit, could not be located. He was to be issued a citation through the mail for obstructing a public servant and third-degree theft.

SEVERAL CHARGES: The evening of June 20, police were dispatched to a location of SR 410 to deal with a hit-and-run collision. Contact was made with a Lakewood man, who claimed his vehicle had been struck, and a Buckley man who witnessed the incident. Later, officers contacted a Bonney Lake man who admitted striking the victim’s vehicle with his motor home. The suspect, 74, was to be charged with hit-and-run of an unattended vehicle, driving with a suspended license and failure to have a require ignition interlock device.

SEX OFFENDER: At 3:36 a.m. June 16 police stopped a speeding vehicle at state Route 410 and Lower Cemetery Road. The 48-year-old Puyallup man was found to be a sex offender who had failed to register his current address. The driver was given an infraction for speeding and a report was sent to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
