Tax cards sent earlier than expected

Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer Dale Washam announced that “Notice of Value” cards stating the assessed real property values for 2009 should in residents’ hands soon. The value notices for all mobile/manufactured homes in Pierce County were mailed June 30 and notices for all real property (approximately 300,000) are scheduled to be mailed July 17.

Values were posted on June 29 on the assessor-treasurer’s Web site: www.piercecountywa.org/atr. However, the time frame to appeal these values is based upon the mail date of the notice. Taxpayers are encouraged to call 800-992-2456 and talk to an appraiser to clarify any questions they might have regarding any value changes before considering filing an appeal.
