Teen expelled after drinking vodka found on way to school | BONNEY LAKE POLICE BLOTTER

COUNTERFEIT: Police on May 1 were dispatched to Taco Bell for a report of a counterfeit $10 bill. An employee at the store noticed there was no water mark on or security strip in the bill. Police also noted it was slightly smaller than other bills and had a slightly different color. Police are investigating.

FRAUD: Police on May 5 were contacted at the public safety building by a woman reporting fraudulent activity on her checking account. The woman attempted to open an on-line account and noticed five unauthorized charges totaling more than $1,804. Police are investigating.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police were dispatched to the 7000 block of Locust Avenue for a report of vandalism to a work van. According to the victim, this was the eighth incident in the past few months, three of which were reported to police. In the most recent incident an unknown suspect scratched a profanity into the side of the vehicle at some point that evening. Police are investigating.

DRUNK AT SCHOOL ON FOUND ALCOHOL: Police on May 11 were dispatched to Bonney Lake High School for a report of a student arriving for school under the influence of alcohol. When police and medical arrived, the juvenile was in the nurse’s office and was extremely intoxicated and sick. Police could smell alcohol on the teen and he was swaying back and forth in the chair and having trouble keeping his eyes open. The teen was found earlier in a bathroom vomiting and was escorted to the office where he admitted to being under the influence of alcohol. During the walk, he could barely walk and was running into walls. According to the teen, he found a half bottle of vodka on a trail. on the way into school and admitting drinking it, though he later agreed drinking from a bottle found in the woods was probably a bad idea. The teen’s conditioned worsened and firefighters placed him on a stretcher and took him to the hospital for treatment. The student was emergency expelled from school and the case has been forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor for charges of minor in possession.

THEFT AND DRUGS: Police on May 11 were dispatched to Safeway for a report of a shoplifter in custody. The suspect admitted he attempted to leave the store with various merchandise totaling more than $43 without paying. A search revealed a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana. He was transported to Buckley Jail and booked on charges of theft and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

FRAUD: Police on May 12 were contacted in the lobby of the Public Safety Building by woman who noticed more than $700 of fraudulent activity from businesses in Lakewood on her debit card. The woman was still in possession of her card and did not know how the suspect obtained her number. Police are investigating.

THEFT: Police on May 12 were dispatched to the 7200 block of 205th Avenue East for a report of a theft. The victim reported a box taken off his front porch. A neighbor told the victim about seeing the crime committed and the the victim provided police with a description of a suspect, according to the neighbor. Police are investigating.

DRUGS: Police on May 13 were alerted to a possible drunk driver on South Prairie Road and contacted the suspect vehicle in the Walmart parking lot. The reporting party was also on hand and told police that the suspect vehicle tried to run her off the road and when she confronted the driver he was extremely hostile and appeared intoxicated. When contacted the suspect admitted to arguing with the other driver, but denied drinking. His license was also suspended and he had a misdemeanor warrant out of Bonney Lake. Police searched the suspect driver and found three bags of methamphetamine and a straw as well as a bag of marijuana and another bag containing a pill. Police noted the man did not appear to be under the influence at the time of the incident. He was transported to Pierce County Jail where he was booked on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, driving with license suspended and his Bonney Lake warrant.

VANDALISM: Police on May 14 responded to the 2100 block of state Route 410 for a report of vandalism in which an object struck and shattered the front window of a business. Police are investigating.
