Thank You

We are writing this letter in response to the article that appeared in the Nov. 12, 2008, issue of The Enumclaw Courier-Herald regarding Mayor Wise’s proposed plan to City Council for a public-private partnership that would result in a new two-story building downtown that would house a new senior center on the bottom floor.

As the community is well aware, the older adults of this community have long awaited a new center and we are so appreciative of this community’s continued support and sensitivity to our needs. This proposal demonstrates a willingness to look at innovative ways to join private funding with the funds from the sale of the Battersby property along with possibility of some retail space to rent.

The Enumclaw Senior Activity Center has been housed at our current location since 1981. Prior to our moving into this location, this building was used for FarWest Garment Factory and prior to that it was also used as an automobile showroom.

The Enumclaw Senior Advisory Board and the center participants would like to thank Mayor Wise for his proposal and to the City Council and all of Enumclaw for the support for our community’s oldest citizens, for our center programs and for the seniors of today and the Baby Boomers on the way (… “and the beat goes on…!”).
