Update to Three Vehicle Fatal Collision on I-5/Rose Street | Washington State Patrol

The Washington State Patrol arrested two drivers for vehicular homicide after a collision that occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 around 10:35 pm on southbound I-5/Rose Street.(north of Boeing Access Rd.) Troopers believe both drivers were involved in an incident of "road rage" which began somewhere near or on the on-ramp from I-90 to SB I-5.

The Washington State Patrol arrested two drivers for vehicular homicide after a collision that occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 around 10:35 pm on southbound I-5/Rose Street.(north of Boeing Access Rd.) Troopers believe both drivers were involved in an incident of “road rage” which began somewhere near or on the on-ramp from I-90 to SB I-5.

The vehicles (pictured below), a blue 2005 Dodge Neon and a black 2010 Chevrolet HHR, were involved in a series of events that eventually led the driver of the HHR suddenly applying his brakes. The driver of the Neon was not able to stop and struck the rear of the HHR. A third vehicle, a 2006 Infiniti G35, struck the rear of the Neon.

The passenger of the blue Neon died at the scene. The driver and passenger in the HHR and the driver of the Neon were transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Infiniti was not injured.

Troopers also believe that the drivers of the Neon and HHR were impaired by alcohol.
