The Veterinary Board reinstated the credential of King County veterinarian Mark L. Besola (VT00004120) in December 2015 after the Washington State Supreme Court reversed the criminal conviction on which Besola’s 2013 license suspension was based.

The board’s order vacates Besola’s suspension and publicly exonerates him.

In overturning Besola’s criminal conviction in November 2015, the Supreme Court ruled the evidence presented against Besola was the product of an invalid search warrant. His license to practice is now active.

The Veterinary Board protects and promotes public health, safety, and welfare in Washington by regulating the competency and quality of licensed veterinary personnel. The board establishes, monitors, and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms, and discipline.
