Although Buckley and Enumclaw were spared the magnitude of destruction that befell neighboring Bonney Lake in Friday's windstorm. The 60 mph gusts that blew through the Plateau still inflicted damage and rocked the area.

In Buckley, power was lost early Friday morning for a short while Mayor Pat Johnson said.

&#8220I just had enough time to light some candles and start a fire when the power came back on,” she said.

The wind also kept public works crews in the city busy tending to down power lines and telephone poles.

At the intersection of Pearl Street and Mill Avenue city crews bolstered a fallen line as the result of a rotted utility pole that was sheared near the bottom by the wind.

The city also was forced to close Sumner-Buckley Highway from Mundy Loss Road to the Hinkleman Extension when power lines became entangled in fallen tree limbs.

The wind played havoc with roofs in the area as well with several sustaining damage, including Mayor Johnson's patio.

&#8220I had several panels from patio roof come off,” she said. &#8220They ended up in the street, and our house is set pretty far back from the street.”

In Enumclaw police, fire and Puget Sound Energy crews were kept busy with several reports of down power lines.

The city also suffered scattered power outages.
