White River High School’s Future Business Leaders of America club earned more first-place awards, and more awards overall, than in its history Feb. 9 at the Midwest Region Winter Business Leadership Conference at Emerald Downs in Auburn.

White River FBLA sent 20 competitors to the conference and earned four first-place awards.

Morgan Wilson and Carlee Quiles won the banking and financial systems competition. Katie Siewert, Olivia Phillips and Morgan Wilson captured the top prize in the category of emerging business issues. Ryan Roulier, Erik Anderson and Trevor Likstad were first-place winners in global business.

Siewert, Wilson, Brandon Blas-Bamba, Dalton Reynolds earned the school’s final blue ribbon in parliamentary procedure.

Overall 16 of the 20 White River competitors placed and qualified for the upcoming state conference.

Siewert, Hunter Chadwick and Jeffrey Lecompte placed second in banking and financial systems. Also a second-place finisher, in the category of management information systems, was Zoe Judson, Kelsey Armstrong and Hannah Miltimore.

Phillips and Siewert earned second in business ethics; Wilson was third. Haley Surface was second in creed, while Roulier was fifth.

Anderson picked up a pair of third-place finishes in business law and personal finance. Phillips earned a third in impromptu speaking.

Fourth-place finishes went to Lauren Dedge and Surface for entrepreneurship and Siewert for future business leader.

White River FBLA also has the only competitor for the position of Washington FBLA State Vice-President, representing the Midwest Region, and White River High teacher Brian Reckling was named the Midwest Region Adviser of the Year for the second time in three years.
