WRHS students place at DECA area conference

White River High School students were among the top finishers at the DECA Area 5 Conference Jan. 12.

White River High School students were among the top finishers at the DECA Area 5 Conference Jan. 12. Each will move on to compete at the DECA State Career Development Conference March 4-6 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Wash.

The Area 5 competition included students from 14 high schools.

White River scored two first-place finishes at the area competition. Jacob Klein and Frannie Nunn placed first in buying and merchandising competition, while Jaron Cramer placed first in technical sales.

Fellow classmate Blake O’Connor place second in technical sales.

Trevor Lykstad and Ryan Roulier earned third-place finishes in the travel and tourism category, while Jessica Tidwell and Alex Chmiel were seventh in hotel and lodging management and technical sales, respectively.

White River adviser Randy Wilson said his school also had a number of students who earned honorable mention.

They are Amedeo Gallucci, Hayden Speyer, Ashlie Franklin, Ashley Przywarty, Brendy Fountain, Austin Langford, Keenan Sheaffer, Jonah Athey, Elaina Straus, Alex Shackles, Alexandria BoyleFrye, Spencer Tabery, Iwalani Kauhi, Doug Mays and Hunter Chadwick.
