WSP seeks witnesses to Monday night SR 169 shooting

Troopers say a man’s vehicle was shot at while driving south from Black Diamond.

The Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a highway shooting Monday evening which, thankfully, did not cause any reported injuries.

A 911 caller at around 7 p.m. informed the State Patrol that he’d been shot at while driving southbound from Black Diamond.

The caller, driving a red Chevrolet 2500 pickup, said a fast-moving vehicle approached from behind and fired a single round into the tailgate of his truck. The caller said he drove away and lost sight of the suspicious vehicle.

Deputies recovered a bullet lodged in the front of the caller’s truck bed near the cab, according to the WSP.

The suspicious vehicle was described as a 2-door white Honda Civic with a newer stainless steel exhaust, blue LED headlights and no rear bumper.
