Year-end rhyme delivered on time

The poem is back

The poem is back

by unpopular demand.

It’s a year in review

to hold in your hand.

Let’s start with Enumclaw,

things are busy there

with the county trying

to give the city the fair.

The hospital broke ground,

the moratorium was lifted

the Kummer Bridge is closed,

because the hill has shifted.

In Buckley, the city

opened a youth center

then built housing for

every senior renter.

Wilkeson is prepping

its centennial celebration

with fundraising and info

and plenty of preparation.

With the housing market

taking a turn for the worse,

Black Diamond is waiting

to see who builds first.

There was so much to

talk about in Bonney Lake

water rights, bare baristas

and code changes to make.

Things were happening

in Sumner as well

encouraging businesses

to stay for a spell.

The newspaper sold

and that made news.

It’s still in town

and sharing your views.

On the national front,

candidates came and they went,

but on Election Day

Obama was president.

On the sporting side

Enumclaw High was Top Gun

with wrestling and girls golf

claiming the state’s No. 1.

The economy is wearing

the area down

storefronts are empty

all over town.

In 2009, I know it

sounds strange,

the news will keep coming

there’ll be little change.

And we’ll keep bringing

it to your front door

filled with news, sports

weather, ads and more

Best wishes for 2009!
