Carl William Yonkers

Carl William Yonkers died April 14, 2016.

He was born Dec. 12, 1952, in Artesia, Calif. to Cecil and Margaret Yonkers. He had two sisters, Shirley and Jeannette, both older than he. He followed sister Shirley and her family to Enumclaw when he was 15. While working as a carpenter on weekends he graduated in 1971 from Enumclaw High School. He worked hauling milk and, in 1972, married Jill Branch. They had sons Kyle in 1975 and Travis in 1977. Family hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting and four-wheeling. About 1985, he bought a logging truck and worked 20-plus years for Gene Rawson. He loved driving in the woods instead of on freeways.

He was a member of the Buckley Log Show for more than 20 years, serving on the committee and participating in both the parade and wrapper-toss competition.

A spaghetti feed and memorial service is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Enumclaw.
