Christina Cunningham

Christina Viola Cunningham, 84, died Feb. 16, 2011, in Auburn.

She was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Woodward, Okla., to Hazel Marie (Speck) Brown and Luther Norman Brown. She graduated from high school in May 1945 and married Eugene M. Cunningham on Sept. 17, 1945, in Woodward. She began her career with the Forest Service in Wenatchee, Wash., after four years of college. She retired from the General Services Administration in Auburn. She was active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Puyallup and enjoyed lunches with her Auxiliary ladies and other GSA retirees. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, working crossword puzzles, reading romance novels, watching game shows and the Hallmark channel and tending to her roses.

She is survived by sons Jeff Cunningham and wife Glenda of Spanaway, Wash., Andy Cunningham of Buckley and Tony Cunningham and wife Bonnie of Faribault, Minn.; daughters Diana Taft and husband Dennis of Dixon, Ill., and Susan Marie and husband Don Olympia, Wash.; sister Anabel P. Isbell of Centralia, Wash.; brother Jackie M. Brown of Vici, Okla.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 2, 2010.

A funeral service took place at noon Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley, with burial at Tahoma National Cemetery.
