Dorothy Cinkovich

An Auburn native, she was born Sept. 11, 1933, to Verner and Clara Marie Hopke.

Dorothy Cinkovich died Sept. 16, 2018, at the age of 85.

An Auburn native, she was born Sept. 11, 1933, to Verner and Clara Marie Hopke. She moved around both east and west coasts due to her stepfather’s World War II Coast Guard career, until finally returning to Auburn for high school where she met Eugene, who would become her husband of 62 years. They moved to Alaska for a short time following coal mining opportunities before settling in Auburn. She worked for the Auburn School District first as a cook then running the district’s central laundry service, until retiring in 1995. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by children Eugene Jr., Richard, Mitzi and Joseph, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, in 2012.

A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Evergreen Memorial Park in Enumclaw.
