Dorothy Wytko

Dorothy L. Wytko died Nov. 27, 2025, at the age of 96.

Dorothy L. Wytko, 96, passed away November 27, 2025 in Kent, Washington. She was born July 6, 1929 in Jessup, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest of 5 siblings.

After graduating from Jessup High School, Dorothy was employed with the Bell Telephone Company in New York City, NY, as a switchboard operator, but only for a short time. While visiting her Auntie Shay in Buckley, Washington she decided to extend her stay in Buckley and began working for the Bell Telephone Company in Enumclaw, Washington as a telephone operator.

Dorothy’s Auntie Shay taught her how to drive a car and frequently sent her to the Wytko farm in Buckley to buy milk. She was not sure who was drinking all the milk but obliged to get more. While getting the milk she met John Wytko. Love ensued…and they were married June 6, 1953 in Buckley, WA., where they made their home until 1999. Two sons were born to them, Donald R. and Thomas P.

After Don was born, Dorothy (already an avid homemaker and stay at home mom) started a small home daycare business. She loved the children she took care of and stayed in touch with many of her former “kids” and their parents for many years.

Dorothy had always loved sewing and knitting. Her skills were always needed as an active member of the Ida Marge Orthopedic Guild. When she was not knitting Dorothy could be found playing Bingo or Spanish 21 at a local casino.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband of 46 years, John, and is survived by her two sons Donald, Kent, WA and Thomas (Whitney), Bonners Ferry, ID. She had four grandchildren and four great grandchildren, the joys of her life.

No services are scheduled. There may be a celebration of life in the spring.
