Jouella Longtine

Jouella Lucina Longtine died July 12, 2023, at the age of 85.

Jouella Lucina Longtine entered into Heaven on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home with her husband Paul by her side. Born on January 29th, 1938, in Rolette North Dakota, Jouella became the 3rd of 12 children born to Louis and Estelle (Casavant) Berube.

In 1952 Jouella moved with her parents and 9 siblings to SW Seattle where she attended Holy Family Catholic School, graduating in 1956. Jouella held a variety of jobs as a young adult including as a “Soda Jerk” at the Sugar Bowl and as a Teletype Operator for the US Government.

Later in life she held jobs as a Sales Rep for both Home Interior and Princess House. Jouella met the love of her life, Paul Longtine, in 1962 through their activities in Te Chancellor Club. Te two were married on April 20th, 1963. Tey spent a few years in California then moved back to Washington, eventually moving to Enumclaw in 1970 where they would stay and raise their 5 children. Of her various jobs, being a mom was by far her favorite. To the extent that her house was always open to the neighborhood kids, making her a 2nd mom to many.

Once settled in Enumclaw Jouella became an active member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jouella volunteered at the Salad Luncheons, Bazaars, Auctions, and with the Youth Group. She was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the St Anne’s Circle. Involvement in the community was also important to Jouella. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Blue Bird and Campfire Leader, Room Mother, Mentor to a MOPS group, and a member of the Enumclaw Police Citizen’s Auxiliary.

Jouella competed in an Enumclaw Women’s Bowling League, played Volleyball in the Enumclaw Rec League, and was a member of TOPS Club and the Red Hat Ladies for several years. Outside of her many activities, Jouella’s hobbies included silk flower arranging, knitting, sewing, and reading. One of her most treasured activities was going out to breakfast with her close friends.

Jouella was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Estelle Berube, brothers Joseph and Francis Berube, brother-in-law Harold Anderson, parents-in-law William and Elizabeth Longtine, sister-in-law Mary E. Longtine and nephew Stephen Longtine. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul, her children Tomas Longtine (Jana) of Middleton, ID, Carol Smith of Enumclaw, Barb Stork (Michael) of Renton, Linda Dore (Mike) of Spanaway, Michael Longtine (Lisa) of Enumclaw, 13 beloved Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings Teresa Anderson, Delores Rybacki, Eileen Moore, LeAnn Gunderson, Alice Dimmitt, Ernest Berube, Conrad Berube, Mary Kleier, and Tomas Berube, her brothers-in-law, Bill and Bob Longtine, sister-in-law Anne Longtine, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

Known for her outgoing nature, friendliness, sense of humor, and pure love for life, Jouella will be truly missed by many. Jouella lived her life loving and appreciating her family and friends, they were her most valued possessions in life.

We will miss her laughter and constant love, but are at peace knowing that she is dancing in heaven, watching over us, until we are all reunited.

Rosary for Jouella will be held at 9:15am on Monday, August 21st, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw, WA, with a funeral mass starting at 10:00am. Lunch and a Celebration of Jouella’s life will follow in the Church Hall.

(Internment at Tahoma National Cemetery will take place at a later date for Jouella’s family members.)
