Age 81, of Enumclaw, WA and St. Louis Park, MN passed away November 17th. Born to Lauri (Larry) Russell and Grace Darling (Trembath) Langen in Eveleth, MN in 1944. Survived by daughters Wendy (Andy) McLaughlin and Jennifer Langen; granddaughter Sadie; siblings Cindy (Bob) Patterson, Les (Lynn), Nancy (Duane Buhl) Clark, Bill (Kim) and loved nephews Eric and Billy Langen. Military funeral honors and committal will be held December 9th 11:30am at Tahoma National Cemetery with all invited for luncheon following. Larry was proud to grow up in St. Louis Park and delayed his Olympic hockey career to proudly serve his country in Vietnam. He continued his service at Ft. Lewis as a Drill Sargeant where he met and married Shirley Hastings. After Larry graduated Bemidji State and the University of Minnesota they chose to move and raise their daughters in the Seattle area. Larry taught Health and coached Track and Cross-Country athletes at Enumclaw High School for over 25 years. His passions included ice hockey, guitar, wood working, photography, following sports and his Great Danes. Larry was Inducted into the St. Louis Park Hall of Fame for both Track and Cross-Country achievements. He was a lifelong athlete to include the Snoopy Senior World Hockey Tournament for 28 years and continued skating into his eighties. Larry enjoyed planning and traveling solo, and with his daughters, to many destinations across the United States, in addition to attending multiple winter and summer Olympic games. A loving father and grandfather, loyal brother and friend, Larry impacted many with his unwavering integrity, respect for others, gentle humor and easy smile that endeared him to many.
