Black Diamond resident Margaret Catherine Ongstad died peacefully on Jan. 24, 2018, following a long illness.

Black Diamond resident Margaret Catherine Ongstad died peacefully on Jan. 24, 2018, following a long illness.

She was born May 8, 1932, in Kimball, South Dakota, to the late Jack and Caroline (Geppert) Mulcrone. She graduated from high school at Notre Dame Academy in Mitchell, South Dakota, and completed nursing school at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. During a 55-year career in nursing she worked on the surgical floor then in later years caring for the elderly.

She is survived by sister Betty Carsten; brother Robert Mulcrone; children Cathy Hoops, Vivian Scott, Barbara Stark, Mary Czaplinski, Patrick Scott, Dianne Johnson and Kenneth Scott; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by twin sister Margaret (Mary) Mulcrone, sister Donna Woehl and husbands Leonard Scott, Bill Moerke and Thor Ongstad.

A celebration of her life is planned for noon Saturday, March 3 at the Lake Sawyer Community Club, 29006 216th Ave. S.E., Black Diamond.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
