Marian Haugen

Marian Genevieve Haugen died June 1, 2011, at the age of 92.

She was born June 10, 1918, near the town of Beltrami, Minn., and the family lived in Nielsville, Minn., Canby, Ore., and Parkland, Wash., before settling on the family dairy farm in Buckley. She lived there for approximately 50 years. She was primarily a homemaker, but also worked in the kitchens at Rainier School and Pacific Lutheran University. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Buckley and was the church organist for many years. She also was active in Lutheran Bible Institute, Pierce County Dairy Wives, PTA and 4-H. In retirement, travels took her to Norway and Africa.

She is survived by son Burton Haugen and wife Carolyn of Buckley; daughters Beryl Rieke and husband Daniel of Kennewick, Wash., and Marilyn Collins and husband Garry of Enumclaw; brothers Jerome Hamre and wife Shirley of Beltrami, Philip Hamre and wife Janet of Moorhead, Minn., and Dean Hamre and wife Sandra of Andover, Minn; sisters Adele Haas of Shillington, Pa., Margaret Webster of Crookston, Minn., Delores Grant of Ada, Minn., and Barbara Oistad and husband Rodney of Fertile, Minn.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Haugen, brother Rolland Hamre and great-grandson Jesse Collins.
