Former Buckley resident Mary Jane Sharples died July 10, 2018, in Morton, Washington.

She was born July 29, 1925, in Gary, Indiana. She loved dancing, music, gardening, raising chickens, playing cards, painting with water colors and oils and going on adventures, particularly her trip to Hawaii. She enjoyed the beach and puzzles and is remembered as being very charitable in her giving. When she lived in Buckley, she formed a close relationship with the librarians, was involved with the Buckley Eagles REAC and attended Community Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by son James Sharples (Susan) of Randall, Washington; daughters Pax Gallagher (Tom Fite) of Auburn and Phyllis Egner (Mark) of Buckley; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband John Sharples on Sept. 8, 2001, son Loren Gallagher and eight siblings.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 29 – on what would have been her 93rd birthday – at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley. She will be buried in the Buckley City Cemetery.
