Enumclaw resident Raymond A. Thomas, 87, died March 12, 2011.
He was born June 8, 1923, to Henry and Hazel (Ward) Thomas in Frazee, Minn. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps with the 5th Infantry Division during World War II. He married Lois on July 5, 1947, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and retired from Weyerhaeuser after 38 years as a heavy equipment operator. He loved to travel by recreational vehicle and work in his yard. He was an avid walker.
He is survived by son Russell Thomas of Enumclaw; daughters Gail Bostwick of Enumclaw and Carolyn Thomas and husband Dan Harringa of Bellevue, Wash.; brother Jerry Thomas and wife Donna of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by wife Lois Thomas on Nov. 28, 2006.
A memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, with a reception following at 3:30 p.m. at the Masonic Crescent Lodge in Enumclaw.
