BLHS BOYS BASKETBALL: Panther pair hits double figures in loss to Warriors

A 64-48 loss to Clover Park Saturday knocked the Bonney Lake Panthers into a tie for sixth place in the South Puget Sound League 3A boys basketball standings.

A 64-48 loss to Clover Park Saturday knocked the Bonney Lake Panthers into a tie for sixth place in the South Puget Sound League 3A boys basketball standings.

In the road loss, Riley Baltazar and Nathan Braun hit 12 apiece for the Panthers.

Bonney Lake trailed by two at intermission, 29-27. Clover Park outscored the Panthers, 37-21, in the second half to seal the win.

Bonney Lake fell to 4-7 in league play and 6-9 overall.

The Panthers handed the Peninsula Seahawks a 77-62 league setback Friday at home.

Bonney Lake went into the second half with a 43-33 lead, but the Seahawks ware later able to trim the lead by five, 47-42.

The Panthers responded with a 11-0 run for a 58-42 margin and Peninsula was not able to get any closer.

Braun led all scorers with 23 points. Marquez and Colgrove chipped in 17 each.

Bonney Lake fell to unbeaten Enumclaw 71-60 in SPSL 3A play Jan. 19.

The Panthers trailed by one after the opening period, but the Hornets outscored Bonney Lake 23-12 in the second.

Braun hit for 21 points and Marquez added 15 for Bonney Lake. Braun hit three 3-pointers, while Marquez had one. Ramsey Thomas hit a pair of 3-pointers in the loss.

The Panthers will travel to Lakes on Friday and host Franklin Pierce Tuesday in a pair of league contests.
