BLHS CROSS COUNTRY: Swept by league frontrunner, Peninsula Seahawks

The Bonney Lake High cross country squad was swept by one of the South Puget Sound League 3A's frontrunners as the girls fell 21-49 and the boys lost 21-40. The setbacks to the Seahawks and victories over Decatur and Auburn Mountainview the week before put the Panther runners in the middle of the standings with a 2-2 accounting in the six team SPSL 3A.

On the boys side against Peninsula, Nolan Weber and Ryan McGraw finished third and fourth with times 17 minutes, 21 seconds and 17:30.

Also figuring in the scoring were Jacob Bohl, 19:16, Tyler Free, 19:40, and Zack Jones, 19:57, who completed the course in 10th, 11th and 12th places.

Marie Wilson won the girls race by flying across the stripe with a time of 19:03. Teammate Sierra Espinal placed fourth with a time of19:59.

Maddie Liddle, Haley Thieriault and Hope Dickson wound up with clockings of 21:54, 22:58 and 23:07 for 13th, 15th and 16th places.

The Panther pacers will head out to Fort Steilacoom State Park twice in the ensuing two weeks. Today, Wednesday, Bonney Lake will participate in its final league meet against Lakes High and on Oct. 22 the Panthers will compete in the SPSL 3A subdistrict meet.
