BLHS GYMNASTICS: Potterf’s beam leads Plateau

Bonney Lake High senior Kelsi Potterf led the way for local gymnasts Friday and Saturday at the state meet.

Bonney Lake High senior Kelsi Potterf led the way for local gymnasts Friday and Saturday at the state meet.

She tied for 10th on the beam and placed 23rd in the all-around during competition at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.

She entered state competition having won the floor exercise a week earlier in the West Central District meet, where she also placed sixth in the all-around.

Panther teammate Kelsey Wells-Henderson had qualified for state in both the beam and floor exercise. Her best showing was a tie for 39th in the beam. Also representing Bonney Lake at state were Amanda Hawkins in the beam and Hope Dickson in the bars.

Making the state trip for Sumner High were Aja Ruswick and Lisbet Fernandez.

Ruswick was coming off a district performance in which she placed second on the beam and third in the floor exercise and also qualified in the bars and vault. She wound up 45th in the state all-around.

Fernandez had qualified in the bars, beam and floor exercise and fellow Spartan Rachel O’Donnell qualified for state in the bars.
