Bonney Lake coasted to a South Puget Sound League 3A championship with two more victories that gave the team a league mark of 9-0-1.

The title had been assured earlier, as the closest club was the 6-3-1 Decatur.

The Panthers’ postseason odyssey begins tonight, Wednesday, when the team takes on Kennedy Catholic of the Seamount League. The contest begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be played on the neutral turf of Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.

Bonney Lake closed out the regular season with a pair of home-field shutouts, beating Enumclaw 2-0 Oct. 26 and whipping Peninsula 3-0 Thursday.

The victory over EHS saw Savannah Moorehouse’s goal in the 18th minute put the Panthers on top. Alicia Bowman scored at the 89-minute mark to provide some last-minute breathing room.

Against Peninsula, Moorehouse scored in the first and 14th minutes to alleviate any drama and Brianna Jones added a goal early in the second half to wrap up the scoring.

Rendi Johnson was in goal both nights to add two more shutouts.
