BLHS SOCCER: Panthers kick off season 3-0-1 record

The Bonney Lake High soccer team pushed its overall record to an impressive 3-0-1 Friday with a 6-1 thrashing of the Yelm Tornadoes.

All games thus far have been nonleague affairs.

First-half goals against Yelm were provided by James Glavin, Austin Curtis and J.D. Walter and allowed the Panthers to carry a 3-1 lead into intermission. The second half was all Bonney Lake, as Walter added a second goal and Curtis buried two more to complete his hat trick.

The Panthers’ lone tie had come Thursday in the form of a 1-1 standoff against Kingston.

The two sides battled scoreless nearly the entire way, until Kingston grabbed the advantage with a goal in the 77th  minute. That looked like the game-winner until Glavin found the net at 80 minutes to secure the dramatic deadlock.

Bonney Lake’s second win came March 15, a 2-1 decision over Wilson High of Tacoma.

Drew Sadowsky scored in the 31st minute and Bryant Maxey added the game-winner at 51 minutes. Wilson scored at 63 minutes but the Panthers held on for the victory.
