BLHS VOLLEYBALL: Lancers abruptly end Panther spikers’ season

South Puget Sound League rival Lakes High ended Bonney Lake’s hopes of reaching the Class 3A state volleyball tournament with a 3-2 victory over the Panthers Saturday at the West Central III/Southwest IV District tournament at Auburn Mountainview High.

South Puget Sound League rival Lakes High ended Bonney Lake’s hopes of reaching the Class 3A state volleyball tournament with a 3-2 victory over the Panthers Saturday at the West Central III/Southwest IV District tournament at Auburn Mountainview High.

Bonney Lake took the first match 25-23, then watched as the Lancers won the second and third matches, 25-20 and 25-15.

The Panthers rallied in game four with a 25-22 win to force a fifth and deciding game. Lakes won the rally-point match 15-9.

The Panthers had opened district play with a first-round, 3-1 win over North Kitsap Friday.

Bonney Lake won the first two games 25-22 and 25-18, but North Kitsap battled back to take the third match 25-16. The Panthers closed out the match with a 25-21 win.

The Panthers dropped into the consolation bracket with a 3-0 loss to league-rival Peninsula in the second round Friday. Bonney Lake lost 26-24, 25-19 and 25-23.

The Panthers ended the season 13-7.
