BLS FOOTBALL: Barrett scores first victory with 27-7 win over Auburn Mountainview

The Bonney Lake High football team got its first win of the season for new head coach Chad Barrett with a 27-7 triumph over Auburn Mountainview Thursday on the road in South Puget Sound League 3A action.

The Bonney Lake High football team got its first win of the season for new head coach Chad Barrett with a 27-7 triumph over Auburn Mountainview Thursday on the road in South Puget Sound League 3A action.

Bonney Lake took a 7-0 lead in the opening period when running back Aaron Quevedo scored on a 5-yard run. Quevedo led the Panthers with 124 yards on 19 carries.

Micah Layaoen added the point-after conversion kick.

In the second quarter, Bonney Lake added two more touchdowns. Quarterback Cole Schuler scored on a 1-yard run, then hit Danny Malloy for a 25-yard TD for a 21-0 halftime lead.

Colton Nash caught a 23-yard pass from Schuler for the Panthers’ final score in the third quarter.

Schuler completed 8 of 16 passes for 146 yards and was intercepted once.

The Lions scored in the third quarter on a 13-yard pass from Cody McNeil to Tate Newell.

Bonney Lake, 1-1 in league, travels to Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood for a Friday SPSL 3A contest against the 0-2 Clover Park Warriors. Game time is 7 p.m.
