Bonney Lake fastpitch team battles to earn ticket to state

The Bonney Lake Panthers fastpitch team took the fifth spot out of the West Central/Southwest 3A District tournament and will play next in the state tournament.

The Bonney Lake Panthers fastpitch team took the fifth spot out of the West Central/Southwest 3A District tournament and will play next in the state tournament.

Bonney Lake earned a state berth by beating Timberline 11-8 Sunday at the district tournament at Sprinker Fields.

The Panthers will play Mount Si at 9 a.m. Friday at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.

At the district games, the Panthers first faced off against Woodrow Wilson and beat them 2-1.

With the win, Bonney Lake advanced to the next round where the Panthers played Prairie.

The Panthers lost that game 5-2 but still moved on to play Shelton.

In a loser out game, Bonney Lake won 11-1.

This win advanced the Panthers to play Auburn Mountainview at 9 a.m. Sunday. Bonney Lake won that game 8-3, which set up the winner to state game against Timberline.
