BONNEY LAKE FOOTBALL: Panthers beat Auburn Mountainview for new coach’s first win

Aaron Quevedo rushes for 124 yards and a TD, while Cole Schuler tosses a couple of TD in the Panthers first win of the season.

The Panthers got their first win of the season for new head coach Chad Barrett with a 27-7 win over Auburn Mountainview Thursday on the road in South Puget Sound League 3A action.

Bonney Lake took a 7-0 in the opening period when running back Aaron Quevedo scored on a 5-yard run. Quevedo led the Panthers with 124 yards on 19 carries.

Micah Layaoen added the point-after conversion kick.

In the second quarter, Bonney Lake added two more touchdowns. Quarterback Cole Schuler scored on a 1-yard run, then Schuler hit Danny Malloy for a 25-yard TD for a 21-0 halftime lead.

Colton Nash caught a 23-yard pass from Schuler for the Panthers’ final score in the third quarter.

Schuler completed 8-of-16 passes for 146 yards and was intercepted once.

The Lions scored in the third on a 13-yard pass from Cody McNeil to Tate Newell.
