Four Bonney Lake High players scored in double figures Friday as the Panthers took a 77-48 South Puget Sound League 3A victory at Sumner in front of a packed gynasium.

Each team battled on both ends of the court. Chad Marquez’s 3-pointer gave the Panthers a 10-point lead midway in the opening quarter.

Ramsey Thoms scored on a layup and Nathan Braun added a free throw for a 17-6 Panther margin.

Sumner was able to cut the lead to six at 19-13 on a Nick Fullmer 3-pointer and an Aaron Clark lay up. But Cody Hefford scored a lay up and added a pair of free throws, while Thoms hit his second 3-pointer, giving Bonney Lake a 24-13 lead.

Thoms finished with a game-high 18 points.

Marquez scored seven points in three minutes of the second period and Thoms hit a long jumper with two seconds left for a 37-25 halftime margin.

Riley Baltazar hit 11 and Kyle Bobbit added 10 for the Panthers.

The Spartans were led by Clark’s eight points, while Daniel DeVries, Brian Judkins and Matt DeGoede added seven each.

Bonney Lake hosts Peninsula Friday in SPSL 3A action.
