The Rainier Foothills Swim Team finished third behind host Bainbridge Island and Paulsbo at the Ferry Boat Springs Oct. 4.
In the girls 10-and-younger division, Kimber Driessen scored her best finish, 10th place, in the 100-yard freestyle. She also finished 11th in the 9- to 10-year-old 50 backstroke and also competed in the 10-and-under 50 freestyle and the 9- to 10-year-old 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly.
In the 10-and-younger division, competing for the first time, were Kaylee Driessen, 7, and Meckenzie Johnson, 8. Both competed in the 50 freestyle, 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke and 25 breaststroke.
In boys 10-and-younger division, Ethan Horan won the 50 breaststroke; finished third in the 50 freestyle; was third in the 50 backstroke; and fourth in the100 freestyle.
In boys 11-12 division, Bryce VanHoof finished fifth in the 50 backstroke; sixth, 50 freestyle; sixth, 100 freestyle; seventh, 50 breaststroke; and seventh, 100 individual medley.
Bailey Sexton won the girls 11- to 12-year-old 50 freestyle with a time of 28.19. Teammate Grace Sales finished in 37.30. Sexton also finished third, 50 backstroke; fourth 100 IM; fifth 50 breaststroke; and sixth 100 freestyle. Sales also competed in the 50 breaststroke, 50 backstroke, 100 IM and the 100 freestyle.
In the men’s 13-and-older division, RFST was represented by Will Cooper, Bennon VanHoof and Nik Stopsack.
VanHoof finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.66 and Stopsack was eighth. In the 50 freestyle, Cooper finished fourth; VanHoof, sixth, and Stopsack, eighth. Cooper and VanHoof finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. Cooper was fifth in the 100 butterfly and Stopsack finished 11th. VanHoof edged Cooper for fifth in the 200 IM. VanHoof’s time was 2:21.66, Cooper’s 2:21.69 and Stopsack finished 11th. In the 100 freestyle, Cooper took seventh, VanHoof, eighth, and Stopsack, 11th.
In the women’s 13-and-older division, Carlie Cairnes finished sixth in the 100 backstroke, seventh in the 50 freestyle and 10th in the 100 freestyle. She also competed in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke.
